Ahh! Momma, Lauren Elise and the puppeh dug

What a Christmas!

Wow, what an ultimately cool christmastime-i love saying that word! Well, all 35 services are done-whew! Everyone did such a great job executing and having tons of energy through the virtual plethora of worship times. We reached our goal of 13,500 with 13,728 and the goal of 1000 people trusting Christ with 1,356. It was cool, people came fwd and prayed to receive Christ and then took back an empty gift box that the leadership had placed on the front of the stage about a month ago-giving ourselves to God-pretty righteous stuff! It was truly a fun-filled, meaningful week for the whole family! We had a Winter wonderland in the courtyards(inside for HB and Sawgrass) for the kidos, they also had their own time to respond to Christ-Way to go FRC children's team-rock strong! The Students had they're own kick-tail worship time on Thursday night. Our own Brittany Marie sang The Christmas song(chestnuts), Lauren Elise sang in Doral and Jenna ran slides. They all had friends come check it out-all meet with rave reviews-way to reach out girlies! In our adult service we sang a pretty trational slate of Christmas tunes. We doctored Ricky's arr. of Angels and added an urban dance squad at all campuses. I helped with the choreography-jk! Pastor TDG did an awesome job deliverying a clear, compelling gospel msg. All in all a very moving worship experience with people responding to Christ. That NEVER grows old! This morning was very groovy. The girlies woke up around 8 waited for sharon and I to get everything "just right" and then made the traditional descent to discover the swirling cacaphony of gifts laden with multi-color ribbons and Christmas cheer. My Mom and Dad and Sharon's sister Aunt Janis have spent the rest of the day with us. We'll drive to Orlando in just a little while to Sharon and Janis' folks home. Uncle Ray and Aunt Karen will be there from LA. Uncle Greg is the only one who couldn't make it, but I'm sure we'll give a shout out to him when we get there. All, a very cool reminder of the love that was sent by God for us who are so desperate for his love. Merry Christmas!

Ahhh...Puppeh duug

So, you may know how much we loooove our dog Pedi. He is the coolest 14 lb Dacshund(pronounced daksundt in German) in the world or at least South Florida. Anyway, I'm checking out my normal slate of blogs when I stumble upon TroyandSteph.com(ok, so i go there about everyday) and I get this wonderful info about dog breath. Pedi is the cutest K-9, but his breath, at times, can stop traffic. Steph writes..."It comes in a 30 day packet...cost is around $15.95...and can be ordered online at www.smellgoodies.com." Thanks so much Steph. This way we can love our pooches even more! Rock strong-Allen

good times, good times...

Well the wonder of the holiday season has arrived. Do you fell the nip in the air? It went below 75! Yes! Well, the DiStefano's had a great Thanksgiving day. Food, Fun, Fellowship, Family, Friends, Fake pumpkins(Heather's lovin the alliteration). Dad, Mom and the Palacios joined our existing quintet and had a blast. DJ loved playing with the Roomba(a robotic vacum) and Andy is now the youngest officially licensed pool cleaner! Sharon lee did an exceptional job on the preparation of the many culinary delights. My Fav this year was the stuffing. Sharon's Mom, Nancy gave her the recipe-wow-this stuffin made you wanna slap your grandma(thanks Dan!). Everybody got their fill. Even Pedi(our 14lb dachsund) scored a leftover turkey sandwich that one of the girls left on one of the end tables for about 27 seconds! Good times, good times.

Another cool day was yesterday, black Friday(cue the Clint Eastwood music). This is our day to go get the tree. All 5 of us piled into the Dodge Ram. I think the last time we were all together was the same trip a year prior! Drove all over creation because we couldn't decide where to get the tree, many opinions in the truck. Then we finally settled on the place closet to our house. Good times, good times! We carefully inspected the 71/2 to 8 ft trees and decieded on a beautiflul 8 ft green one! The giries helped set it up. Brit and Jen got on the floor to tigthen up the screws of the tree stand and Sharon and Lauren inspected to make sure it was exactly centered. Yours truly, of course, was holding up the tree, being the manly man that I am. It truly is a 5 person job!

It is nice that the holidays are here. If you haven't already thought about your traditions for this season-do it now. The time slips by faster than you think and you're left with vague memories when you should be left with good times, good times.

Here comes the Christmas Express...

Saturday, December 8th we'll be partnering with the parents of 600 less fortunate children by providing those parents the oppurtunity to go Christmas shopping for their children. The coolest part about this is that these kidos won't even know what FRC did, but look at their parents as the Heroes! Cool, Kingdom stuff. You can participate by attending Christmas Express and being a sponsor and/or providing a gift for one of these children through FRC, Target.com or Toy-r-us.com. May your days be merry and bright! Family update

hi guys. Well it's time for another family update. Sharon and i are in the middle of BIG plans for Christmas 2007 at FRC. We work with some of the best, most creative, crazy, inspired, not right people that you could ever imagine! This year is going to be A Retro Christmas. Pretty cool stuff considering the timing of it all. Newsweek mag just had 1968 the year that changed everything on their latest edition, Tom Brokaw just wrote a book about growing up in the 60's and retro seems to be creeping around the corner everywhere you look, or is that just because I've been to our new Ikea 1 too many times!?! That happens when your wife's the Design director at a Retro-type church(i really don't know what that means-i was just on a role!). Erwin Mcmanus is always given credit to be the church's futurist but i've always said that TDG can take him anyday! Oh well, back to the update.

Our little Lorna(side note: Lauren's great-grandmother DiStefano accidently called her Lorna and it stuck-mystery solved!) is a full member now of Phi Sigma Sigma. She really has found a home with these girls. We got to spend some groovy time with her big sis Mich. She came to FRC and we had lunch afterwards. Very cool girl. It's also cool that Lauren can have a "big sister," which that priviledge has never been physcally possible! Brit is havin a blast in drama. She's also landed her first job(cue the herald trumpets, go on the timpani roll!) She's currently employed at Caffe' Di Amore'. Did you hear my french accent! They cater partys with gourmet coffee and chocalate fountains-hmmm. She's lovin it. Imagine, Brit in the people serving business. It's kinda like Batman meeting Robin, peanut butter meeting jelly, the Lone Ranger meeting-i'm sure you get it. It's a fit! Our Jen Jen is making the big adjustment in her fist year in HS and the grades and everything else is a-movin on up. She loooooves music, FRC and of course her family. Her Mama just helped make her a brunette-looks pretty cool. Hope that catches you up. Remember...sometimes the greatest gift is the one you already have-Rock strong-Allen

Drink from the fountain of leadership

I wish you could've been there. Maybe you were. last night at our staff mtg Pastor TDG truly represented. He totally brought us closer to our god-potential while reaching his. The big takeaway of the night??? Drum roll please...

Your success in ministry is determined by how you deal with the attacks.

This is one of those things I've ALWAYS believed. It's just so cool to hear it put so succinctly(that word's for you bro!). Other takeaways...

Who have i recruited to lead and not do? Wow!

Leadership has an expiration date so we have to evaluate(i'm slappin myself 5!)

Ministry is lonely so let people in-strong.

Gold i tell ya, pure gold. I must stop because i'm beginning to drown! I know this may seem like a total suck up to our beloved Pastor, but give me a break. It's like each time we get together God begins to do a new thing. Thank you Pastor Troy for listening to God. Thank you staff and friends for being willing to grow and be challenged and thank You God for allowing us to be the stewards of this overwhelming vision-50-100-150! Rock strong-Allen

the Domino effect

This wknd we kick off the Domino effect...what to do when you've made a bad desicion. Very powerful stuff! We've made up these very groovy cards with the Domino effect on one side and a free Starbucks giftcard on the other side for first time guests. We've made over 20,000 sooo if they all get redeemed we may need to take out a loan! Buy, it would be totally cool to have 20,000 first time guests over the next month! We had a cool Trunk or treat despite the effects of TS Noel. Brit had a good group setting things up and we were just about to complete our 3rd trunk when the heavens opened up. Oh my. It was a mess, but the kidos regrouped and moved the decos into the garage where we set up shop. It was a cool time. About 100-150 kidos came by and got good candy and a groovy Domino/Starbucks card. Sharon and I spent most of the evening at Our Party central location-Starbucks on sirling & pine island. Our Cooper city worship pastor Ricky Garcia set up the deal and had a very succesful evening. We bought everyone's coffee from 6pm-8pm, it was a little rainy, but the music provided by Priscilla, Jeff, Mark and Vaughn was awesome! God has gifted FRC in a great way. We are truly blessed. Thanks for giving of yourselves guys. The Kingdom ALWAYS gets bigger when we do this. Have a beautiful day and prayer for this wknd that people will MOVE toward God even if they've(we've) made a bad desicion-Rock strong-Allen

New things at FRC

Don't miss this wknd at FRC. We have a surprise 4 u. Last wknd Ray, our Hallandale beach campus pastor, did an AWESOME job. He spoke on temptation. It doesn't matter if it's a big or small lure-they both kill. Strong word-check it out on our Podcast. We also have 2, count them 2 new blogs. First check out www.troyandsteph.com pretty self explanatory. I hope you enjoy this inside look into the life of the Gramling family. It's great to do life with people you love. I like the new format. 2nd is www.potentialblog.com Here's the explanation from our beloved pastor Troy...

Potentialblog.com is committed to sharing leadership principles and insights that you can apply in your life, business and ministry. We're partnering with leaders to reach their God potential - because we're not there yet.

18 years-WOW!

Well Oct 15 was the day, 18 years ago, that I "officially" started as Flamingo road baptist church's Worship pastor(actually, it was called Associate pastor, Music). I remember my first day at FRC. I wallked upstairs to what is now our school's admin buidling and i walked into the church's office and saw Sarah Crocker and Brenda Mashburn. Two of the kindest women I've ever met. Dan and Gar were there and that was it! We had two buidlings. The office building, which was built in 1985 and the "auditorium" building which was built in 1981. The AB was 2 stories, had a kitchen in the back of the room downstairs for Wed night suppers(gotta love those green beans-right Gar!), Sunday school classrooms upstairs and had 285 seats for our 2 services! Sharon and I had been married for 5 years, had a 7 month old by the name of Lauren Elise DiStefano, 1 Hyundai Excel(yikes!), 1 Mercury Marquis(thanks Mom and Dad!) and a dog named Lendi(Len for Allen and di for, you know). Roll the clock fwd 18 years-WOW! The staff honored Sharon and me this past Monday. Thanks for the wonderfully kind words-we reeeally love you guys and are thrilled we get to do life with you. Thanks for the low fat "organic" cake! You rock Lili and the goblet shall be treasured for at least a week or two! God has done some things beyond my imagination and some expected things. I am forever grateful for the absolute gift he has given me in my family and FRC. I've had the priviledge to serve with 2 awesome pastors Dan and Troy. It is hard to believe that the best is yet to come! Some wonderful people through the years, Gar's been there the whole time-love ya bro and I'm sooo glad my honey gets to be on staff and share this with me now! God has been so good to me. He has used the good and bad in a remarkable way. Thank You Father.

Fastest growing churches in America

Hi guys. Well Mynakedpastor is finally coming to an end. What a journey. It's been fun, sad, awesome, revealing and tiring, sometimes all at the same time. God has used this series in a way like He has never done before at Flamingo. Pastor Troy and his family have been veeeery selfless to allow us into their home for these 5 weeks. Remember you don't have to miss us. We're here live at all 7 cooper city times over the wknd, FOX on Sundays at 1130 and Pastor Brian Vasil will be posting a daily devotional to follow along with as well as other additional times upcoming-Trunk or treat, Christmas Express. So check it out!

Side note: Check out this link. It's awesome to see what God is doing at FRC and this was printed when we were running 6200 not 8000! Rock strong...

Wow, what a day!

This past wed was a trip! The day began normal enough. Get up, go to LA walk for about 22 min and find my "zone." Actually this is me on a tread mill trying to get my heart rate over 120 walking at 4.1 miles per hour while watching the young lad in front of me walk at about 3.1 miles per hour and have a heart rate of 177-no fair! Oh well, we had some cool hang time with some of the other pastors at Starbucks after the gymn-yes a very smelly table i know! Had the normal plethera of mtgs then went home before First Wed, which by the way was THEEE most inspired msg i've ever heard in my life. Wow! Anyways, Sharon and I get home, it's around 430ish(we have to be back at 5!) and we get a phone call from our newset driver, Brittany Marie that she's been in a car accident. Everyone's fine. It was low speed accident and it wasn't her fault! Yeah! As you may know the police response to an accident is typically not fast. So Sharon took off and left me and my beautiful 17 year old at the scene. The officer made his way around 550ish-fairley quick response-thank you BSO. The officer did find the other party at fault. Thank you Lord that we don't have to pay out the 1k deductible and watch our premium sky up another 150 per month-whew! Well we made it to First Wed with time to spare, had an awesome time of worship-rock strong fellas-way to let God use you, Troy was off the hook and we opened up our new courtyard/baptistry area which Sharon and I have been workin on for about 5 months! It was sooooo cool. 25 people were baptised, including Pastor Ricky's daughter Kayla. Whew-hew! I was ballin like a baby. Oh well, it doesn't get much better than that. Life goes by fairly quickly make sure you're thankful to Him and enjoy the day. Rock strong-Allen

The simple things

Wow-what a cool day with my baby Sharon lee. She really is the most wonderful woman i know[glad for that!). Nothing special today. We went to the mall. Walked around. I smelled her hair like 50 times, i love doing that! Ate lunch. Caught a movie. Went to Starbucks. I got to look into her ultimately cool greenish, blue eyes-Wow! Went to Target, i know romantic! Then we came home. Sometimes the simplest things are the most complex. Sometimes the most ordinary is the most profound. Sometimes the most obvious brings the most wonder. Sometimes we need to slow down enough to experience the eternal. It's all around us. Everyday. Given by God. Allow it to enter your life. Rock strong.

Happy birthday Brittany Marie

Well here we go again. Another bday for the gurlies! Brittany Marie turns 17. Yes i know i just graduated from PBA 5 years ago so there must be some explanation. My, my how time flies. We celebrated her special day with the fam on Monday. Interesting side note, her cousin Zachary, my sister Debi's oldest boy shares the same b'day. He's 15. Just got his drivers restricted today-whew-hooo! Arghhh, that's a good boy arghhh(inside pirate joke).

I am a very blessed man to get to experience raising my family in one place, at one church all of these 18 years. It is a blessing i thank God for often. Take time today to thank the One who created you for some cool blessing in your life. There are many to choose from. Rock strong.

Wow, what a wknd!

Well it's official. We broke the 7k barrier. In fact we broke the 8k barrier! We had 8056. This is our highest non-holiday wknd ever. We were hoping for 7k plus, but God had other plans. God tends to do that. It was overwhelming to see so many people take steps toward God. Life transformation is cool. Please pray for Troy and the guys. The 3 of them are headed to Tampa for Troy to lead a conference.

Big side note. Our very own Brittany Marie drove to school...by herself!!! She drove home, in the rain, succesfully. Sharon did a KILLER job on the set & props this wknd. Check it out on our internet campus-sat-5:15 & 7, sun. 9:30, 11, 12:30, 2:15(spanish), 5. Have an awesome day! Rock strong.

Interesting update

Hi guys. Just a quick update on the DiStefano's life. We're all pretty pumped because this wknd begins the series mynakedpastor.com It looks like we're going to see more than 7k at FRC this wknd. That will be a first. We always say at FRC we count people because people count. Kinda sounds like a jingle(cue 1958 instructional video music now). Lauren has just joined the prestige phi sigma sigma or in college language phi sig. I'm reminded of my sister Debi saying "I'm a zeta" with a valley girl accent. Even though we're excited for our oldest girl we miss her tremendously. I know, I know she lives at home but it's still tough. Brit has dance call backs for West side story today. You can imagine our house at 9:32 every night hearing "I feel pretty, oh so pretty." Once Brit begins to learn a song the WHOLE family learns it as well! Love ya baby. Jen went to a lock in this past friday and got a few of her school pals to go. One friend is from a family we've known for about 12 years who we have been praying for, just about every day since. Jenna has a huge heart for God and wants to see people take their next step toward Him. I hope you have a spectacular day. Rock strong.

mynakedpastor.com is in FULL swing

Hi guys. Well it's official mynakedpastor.com is off and running. We had a great launch party. I hope you were able to stop by. Fun, food, prizes for the whole family! Even Andy the ant made an appearance-who knew! FYI the day begins @ around 5 with a devotion with the naked pastor. Then we have a cool time of prayer at noon. Thursday @ 6am is going to be a day(maybe half day)at the beach. We're shooting a video for this wknd. It will be cool to see what goes on behind the scenes in making videos at FRC. Don't forget to check out and post on

What a wknd!

I just wanna say that I'm a blessed man. We had another one of those crazy, awesome, wonderful wknds. Ricky and the crew did an unbelievable job leading in worship! Guys you brought me to the throne all 6 times-rock strong! We now have a hymn arr. for the new project(it is well). Awwwwesome job on arr. and delivering Ricardo. God has blessed you in a heavenly way my man. We also had these righteous surf borads outside before people entered that displayed different msgs about beach baptism coming up on sept 23(ala Larsons lodge on the way to Oralndo circa 1985 when it was theeee plaace to stay). I also realized how blessed I am by my baby being gone to Peru with the hardest working most skilled crew in South America(well maybe not-but they're definately top 5!). I heard they had a memorable reveal yesterday. CYA tomorrow my love. Another blessing was Brit and Jen representing in student ministry with some awesome worship and a cool John Mayer tune, My stupid mouth! Real title. I'm sooo hip to the ways of teens. Theeeen my little Lauren elise had a blast with Pastor Heredes and the Doral chorale(just made that up-you can use that HR but i expect some residuals!). Sawgrass had they're highest number yet-on a HOLIDAY WKND! Wow-way to go Matt, Fuller and the Sawgrass team-you guys work sooo hard. We also had some pretty tough stuff happen during the 9 am worship time. Two ladies found out, during the worship time, that they had lost loved ones. Please pray for them as they experience a holiday without those two. There's craziness that happens on this earth, but ALWAYS remember He is in control and He loves us with a ridiculous love that can't be duplicated. Rock strong-Allen

Thursday, August 30, 2007

Soooo. We're back in the swing of normal life. The girlies are back in school. Jenna's representing now in HS. She's rockin strong with her Devil wears prada group(not a made up name), Brit is trying out tomorrow for a spot in West side story with a made for TV monologue... and singing "My white night" from my fav musical and yours(drum roll.....) The Music Man! And finally our little Lorna has begun her fall term at FIU. Such the big college girl! She's trying to determine the traffic flow down there which can turn a 20 min trip into an hour and 20! Yikes! My baby, Sharon Lee, just set sail with 32 of FRC's finest to Peru(they actually flew, i just wanted to say that because I was on a roll..."did we give up when the germans bombed pearl harbor!") They are currently doing an Extreme makeover on the girls orphanage FRC supports. Very cool. We've wisked the 23 girls away to a week long "camp" so they don't know. Shhh.

Hey, hey, hey remember myNakedpastor.com is right aroung the corner. You DO NOT want to miss the launch party-9-9@9pm. There's only 8 days, 25 hours, 23 minutes and 8 sec, 7, 6-you get it. Exciting prizes, famous pesonalities(not really, but Fuller, Heather & Heredes are pretty close) and fun for the whole family! Please pray for this and for our Peru crew that flies back on tues. Have a glorious night-Rock strong-Allen

Just another day in paradise

Hi guys. Had a pretty righteous day today. Got to LA at 6:17, saw some of the gang there going after it-Nestor's inspirational. Wknd planning was cool-Troy's back this wknd talking about?...?it's gonna be grrrreat! Had lunch with Sharon lee(had the footlong hot dog on a wheat bun-low expectations, but had a delightful taste with surprising satisfaction-umm), Sharon got to ride down to Miami, BY HERSELF!!! She scored a passport for the Lima, Peru extreme makeover for the girls orphanage trip. Way to go Luv-i'm sooo proud I'm shedding a tear! We both got to show off our MYNAKEDPASTOR.COM car magnets-Oooo, ahhh! Those things are so cool-thanks Scott-you are truly a gifted scribe. Troy gave me an AWESOME, new NBA folder-this one's black(unlike my 10 yr old orange one) and has the official NBA notepad inside. That's a triple double in my book-literally! Thanks bro! Went to Chicken kitchen and landed some fine chicken, lettuce, tomato,rice-you know the drill. Came home and our 2 high schoolers were...guess...sleeping. If you have high schoolers you know what happens in the summer. They stay up ALL hours of the night then try to sleep in(dad makes a lot of noise in the am) all hours of the morning. So, as you can imagine, there world is ROCKED when school begins and they have to wake up at 5something or other! It's awesome! I had to peel Jenna off the couch about an hour ago. Then my honey and I just got back from our walk-a righteous day! Oh well, thanks for allowing me to share(good times) have a peaceful rest-Rock strong.

Pray for Lima

Hi guys. Lots of exciting stuff going on here. Sharon spent most of the day trying to get a passport to go to Lima. We're going to send a team down there and do an extreme makeover on the orphanage we partner with. Pretty wild timing with the earthquake! Gar told me today that we should send 25 plus people down there. Much thoughts and prayers go to our Campus pastor Steve and Dorcas and to Josue' our worship pastor there. We love you guys. Please pray for Troy. He has a cool opp. He's going to teach this wknd at Fellowship church. They've always been a huge example and frontrunner in the "how to do church world" for us. A cool and righteous side note is that our own Stephanie Smith is beginning a small group in Fort worth TX. We've sent her a video box to capture wknd teachings and show them at any time to her group. Who knows FRC Fort worth!?!?! Oh well, i hope you guys have a spectacular day. Rock strong.

Hello Blogging nation! No need to fear I am back. I know you've waited for the virtual plethora of information and wisdom to come pouring from these pages!

Sooo...

Brittany and Jenna just got back from their FRC high school summer camp. Yes I said they BOTH went(our baby is now in high school)! Wasn't it just a few years ago that I was schooling everybody in the student center in Foosball-oh shoot they made the last table in 1992! Yes our little girlies had a blast at the camp. They said the camp site totally rocked strong with a rip line, rock wall, good food, great bed, awesome worship and games and 32 kids gave their hearts to Christ with a ton of other re dedications-very cool!

Lauren is finishing up her 7 hours of college classes for the summer. She's doing well. Just finished a big project. Great job baby, stay the course, thousand points of light...

And...ta,ta,ta,tah.......Sharon lee and are celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary today!!! I love my honey. We went to Melting pot yesterday. Got the back private table for 2-kissy, kissy! Sharon had the mushroom salad while I had the California salad(the diversity of taste between the raspberry vinaigrette and the chucks of bleu cheese with the crunch of the walnuts makes my head spin)-sorry i took a little vacation! We, of course scored large with the cheddar cheese and the chocolate. Very tasty. All in all we had a great time.

Oh well, just got done with 2 worship times and 4 more to go tomorrow at CC with many more to go at the other sites. Pastor Troy is back doing awesome and we're very glad. We've missed him. Have a fantastic day or night-rock on.

So we just got back from our trip to the Ga mts. I got to admit, even though I am the quintessential city boy(that word was for you Heather!) it was a really cool, restful, memorable time away. It didn't hurt that we stayed in this HUGE cabin/house way up on the top of a large Mt. Sharon's folks have a close friend who let use it this past week. Incredible view. Hiawasee now boast a new movie theater. Being the artsy family, as Troy would say, we checked out Hairspray. I must give it 4 stars! Great Flick. A must see. The girls(minus Lauren:(-had college classes, such the big gurl!), Sharon, Janis and Gammy(Sharon and Janis' mom) got the pedicures done! They had a blast together, strange selection of colors though. We also spent half one night playing Balderdash. It was pretty insane, but memorable. Jenna's definitions were the best-a duck!?! We all are reeeally looking fwd to the fall. Got some awesome things planned at FRC. I believe it's going to be our biggest season of seeing lost people allowing God to step into their lives. Should be really cool. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed the update-rock strong.
